QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
From inception in 1986, we have been committed to architecture in the public realm. We serve a client base of non-profit institutions and specialize in facilities for the performing arts. Our work includes design and implementation for new construction, build-out of core/shell, renovations and alterations, restoration of historic buildings, adaptive re-use, interior design, feasibility studies and evaluations, long range master planning and phased development plans.

EDUCATION & SPECIALIZED TRAINING:
Mr. Kurtz has a B.A. degree from New York University in English Literature; B. of Architecture from City College School of Architecture and a MFA from Yale University School of Drama. He is registered to practice architecture in NY, NJ, CT, MA, PA and RI and is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards for reciprocal registration in other states. He is also a US Green Building Council LEED accredited professional; member of the American Institute of Architects, the Municipal Art Society, the Architectural League, National Trust for Historic Preservation, the US Green Building Council, and the League of Historic American Theaters.

RECENT & REPRESENTATIVE CONSULTING WORK:
1. Chautauqua Institution, Chautauqua, NY. 2001-2006. New theater in historic building restored and enlarged for professional theater and its conservatory training program. Contact: Charles Heinz 716-357-6200

2. Signature Theatre, New York, NY 1994-2004. Work involved 3 projects: new theater in mixed-used building; marquee and new offices. Contact: Kate Lipuma 212-967-1913

3. New York Theatre Workshop, New York, NY. 1992-2007. Six projects: renovation of warehouse for new theater; raise roof at stage & seating, add new rigging; heat & air conditioning; master plan, new offices & rehearsal studio; flexible space for scenery, costume & props workshop. 4. Cherry Lane Theatre, New York, NY 2003-2006. Building renovation for 176-seat theater, lobby, offices & dressing rooms. Contact: Angelina Fiordellisi 212-989-2020

5. Playwrights Horizons, New York, NY 1993-2003. Rehearsal studios, workshops, office and public amenities for two theaters - one with 199 seats, the other with 128 seats. Contact: Chris Boll 212-564-1235.

The Alliance provides leadership and vision, and delivers services, resources and tools that strengthen cultural organizations. The Alliance informs the field on statewide and national issues affecting the arts and assists local arts agencies in building community support.
