1990-1998. Directed te national nonprofit arts service, publishing, and
professional education organization.

agencies and a variety of arts and cultural organizations throughout the
United States.

- Doctor of Philosophy, Regional Planning 1994. U. of Massachusetts, Amherst,
Dept. of Regional Planning. Conducted the first national study of the
impact of community cultural planning.
- Master of Education, Organizational Development, 1990 U. of Massachusetts,
Amherst, School of Education.
- Created the national Peer Advising Training Program serving 24 states.
RECENT
& REPRESENTATIVE CONSULTING WORK:
- 2002: Cleawater Arts! Foundation, a local arts agency in Clearwater,
FL. Conducted a community-wide cultural plan, engaging 1,000 citizens
in the process of defining a vision, long-range goals and objectives for
the community's cultural development.
- 2002: Mississippi Arts Commission, a statewide arts agency. 5-year
strategic plan with extensive constituent assessments.
- 2002: Americans for the Arts, national arts service & advocacy
organization in Washington DC. Wrote proceedings on the conference "Building
Creative Economies: the arts entrepreneurship and sustainable development
in Appalachia."
- 2002: National Assembly of State Arts Agencies, the national
service organization for state arts agencies, Washington DC. Evaluated
a national professional development program for arts education managers
at state arts agencies.
- 2001-2002: Real Art Ways, Hartford CT. Facilitated strategic
planning as part of facility expansion and audience development initiative
for this contemporary arts center.
- 2002: Family Diversity Project, an organization that produces
& distributes photo and text exhibits and books to raise awareness of
diversity in families in Amherst, MA. Facilitated organizational development
to help the organization make a successful transition from founder-driven
to professional managed nonprofit organization.
